Shell's Puget Sound Refinery is located on March Point near Anacortes, and it has been in operation since 1958. Until 1998, the refinery was wholly owned by Texaco Inc. We strive to meet the changing needs of our customers as well as be a good neighbor to our community and the environment.

When the refinery first went on stream in 1958, Puget Sound received most of its crude from Canada via the Canadian pipeline. In 1985, Canada's demand for oil increased, and Shell PSR had to seek alternative sources of crude oil. Today, most of the refinery's crude oil arrives by tanker from the Alaskan North Slope, but Shell PSR still receives some crude by pipeline from Alberta, Canada. The current processing capacity of the refinery is about 147,000 barrels per day.

Shell Puget Sound Refinery currently produces refined petroleum products including three grades of gasoline (Lead Free Premium, Lead Free Power Plus, Lead Free Regular), fuel oil, diesel fuel, propane, butane, petroleum coke, sulfur and nonene (a petrochemical). Our product supply area is primarily the Pacific Northwest from the Canadian border to Portland, Oregon. On occasion, some products are shipped out of the area.
